About Jeffrey Adams Photography

Ever since I was a child I have been obsessed with images, and what makes a great image. I knew very early on what I wanted to do with my life: I wanted to create images. I use the word images (not pictures) because images take on a life of their own. They create a mood and evoke an emotional response in the viewer. Pictures are documents, and do nothing more than prove that something happened. They create no mood, evoke no emotion; and function almost like evidence. There will be plenty of pictures taken at your wedding, you will take thousands of pictures of your child throughout their life. But when you hire a professional photographer to photograph your Newborn baby, or photograph your wedding, you should get more than pictures. In other words: if a picture is worth a thousand words, an image is indescribable.

That’s where I come in. I have spent the better part of my life watching films, pouring over art books, walking through museums looking at classical works of art, and trying to figure out what makes a great image and then trying to incorporate that into my work. I have spent my entire adult life, and thousands of dollars, in schools and workshops throughout the country learning about creating beautiful images. Photography is more than looking through a lens and pushing a button, photography is about Thinking. Thinking and reacting to what is going on, thinking about light and the quality of light, thinking about my subject and Always trying to make them look as good as I possibly can, and finally thinking about what I am going to do next. Just because everyone at the reception is eating, doesn’t mean that I can’t be at the gazebo thinking about my next shot.

I feel confident in my ability to capture amazing images, but in my opinion that is only half of the job. The work that I create is my highest priority, but the second most important element is your experience working with me. I am always professional, but also easy to get along with and laid back. I believe that if you have a good time working with me, that the experience translates into the images. I want to have fun while we are working together. I want your feedback in real time, so I know what you like and can craft images tailored to you. This way each session is a collaboration between the client and myself. Then you get images from your session that reflect your life, and you as an individual. That is what you want and what I want. This is what I mean by “Empowering Your Creativity”.
